In the summer of 69

And still going strong in 2009 - the couple, now both age 60, reprise their iconic pose nearly 40 years later.

This weekend marks the 40th anniversary of Woodstock…probably the most famous concert in history. It was all about peace and love…none of this damn war stuff.

I heard a story yesterday on the news that actually gave me some goose bumps about the couple, Nick and Bobbi, who ended up on the original Woodstock album and movie poster. Their photo was randomly taken and later on they were at a friend’s house listening to the album passing around the jacket and saw themselves on the cover. Can you imagine! This is the cool part…they are still together; sorry but my corny side thought that was so adorable. They started dating a couple of months before the concert and married a couple years after. Now at age 60 they are still married…awwwwwwwww.

Nick, the husband, has a theory on why their photo was chosen, “It’s peaceful, which is what the event was about,” he says. “And it’s an honest representation of a generation. When we look at that photo I don’t see Bobbi and me. I see our generation.”

See, the Beatles were right…All You Need is Love.

Happy Memorial Day?

Not to ruin your holiday this weekend but like everything else, your Memorial Day BBQ is going to cost you more this year. Can’t the recession at least cut us a break as we observe our holiday, I guess not. Remember back in the day when you were a teenager and you had to pay a couple of bucks to get into a kegger party, well you may want to bring back that childhood tradition when you are having those bbq’s. Here are the stats…get out your caluculator to figure out what to charge. (my photo is an idea for anyone who is making cupcakes this weekend)!
